Us kids back then we knew where to go for a feed
As my mates and I would a walking we'd go
Without telling our mother at all on the day
Up to the forest where the blackberries grow
All day we'd spend non stop stuffing our selves
We'd eat our selves stupid and keep on doing same
Regardless of anything this then was to us so good
In all kinds of weather no care at all if it rained
Mums did not have to ask then where we had been
Our mouths would be black and our cheeks very pink
Our hands all shades our teeth a strange shade of blue
Our tounges would be purple our clothes same with ink
Coming home was a nightmare but it was worth it so
Our tummies so swollen and we could hardly then walk
And everyone laughing at us then along the way home
As our mouths and our tounges were so funny if we talk
Wild blackberries oh how I loved them so much did I
I'd eat them and eat them till my tummy would cry
My clothes then paid the price as all covered in dye
And the smacks mum she gave me still do have me sigh
