WINE AND GATES

heard in the door way to tomorrow

tap and the water is yours
said the scarecrow
deep in the night of the august moon, furies
walk on the tongue like these, and how

shame and the clay of Gods insight
we have seen the riches of the kind
by the road of a wayward city, found in might
the fruit of common stead is ours for a lifes rhyme

the fish were surprised
the hour of our assurances seem to be the men of golden causes
the heat we assume is a driven mind, turns out to be wise
this breath of certainty is courage between the odds

sticks and stones may sake my owns
but words will never hurry me
and so the story is told
to a wind in love with the key
