 Penciled Thoughts

Words

Sometimes my mind does not make sense
It spins me off the ground.
Sometimes I try to quiet it
Can't chase away that frown.

I wish I could stop the thing
It bounced me off the wall.
When I finally build me up
I feel so very small.

I can see into my future
I'm growing old so fast.
I am grabbing at the minutes
As they go soaring past.

All the pencils root me on
Until the rhyme I win.
The words jump around the page
They cause the joy I'm in.

Each word has a special meaning
To tell it's story loud.
In the end they come to past
It makes me feel so proud.

I look for words to say
To point to where I'm at.
But my words have lost all air
They're laying here so flat.

The final point I tried to make
Caused my mind to wrench.
Stop the dirt that covers me
As I lay here in this trench.
