On The Edge of Forever
She dwells by window, him asleep
Time all hers, his to keep
An end of sorts and too begin
A loss becomes, now Heavens win
His battle fought to his last day
Piercing peace as is deaths way
Holding forever near edge of twilight
Love beats a path nearing midnight
The doctors tried to stay goodbye
But in the end his time to fly
Became the move, his last on Earth
Final the hour, the end once birthed
Breathing in room where two alone
Become now one under their home
It once was filled of laughter theirs
His of love hers now once there
A smile harder to find and place
A kiss harder than soft embrace
Farewell seemed too soon to say
To things they shared and yesterdays
But in the end she knew and knows
He nears peace, hers yet sowed
Her band of gold she turns on finger
The scent of love in bedroom lingers
Peering through glass reflection comes
To ease her loss with setting Sun
She nears his side, bending to kiss
The last of things private she'll miss
Before they come to take away
What's left of them now parted ways
On the edge of forever came fast and left
It's mark, it's place taking no less
A soul mate once that made up life
A widow now, her, he called wife
