ACROSS THE BRIDGE
ACROSS THE BRIDGE
At first I was afraid to step on the bridge
its planks seemed rickety to me
A fear gripped my throat
a feeling of terror engulfed me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Memories of myself as a child
flashed before my eyes
I had on a light blue dress
with ribbons in my hair to match
It happened so fast one minute I was looking over the railing
then screams and someone was crying
I had the feeling of flying
instead of going up I was going down
Down down into the deep I was falling
my ears roared with the sounds of the sea
I could see a bright light far away
it seemed to beckon me 'come'
I closed my eyes and drifted down deeper
Then two strong hands caught me under my arms
I could see daddy's legs moving us upward
away from the bright light
Then the feeling of cold air in my face
I remember coughing as air came back into my body
Daddy crying and laughing at the same time
saying "Little Bit, you gave me a scare"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took another step on the bridge
it was not rickety as I first thought
Daddy whose hair was now gray walked beside me
For some reason the fear left me
Unafraid together
he and I walked across the bridge

**After I penned this I thought this is a good analogy of
how God takes care of us His children.
When we fall into the 'waters' of despair
and feel like we are over our head and drowning
His hands are always there catching us,
lifting us and holding us tight in His grasp.
It is a safe place in Him

Mark 4: 39
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!"
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
