Transformation in the Making - Contemporary Poetry by Deidre Washington

I am Black
I have no homeland no heritage no customs.

I am Black
I have no history
Only thoughts of slave ships cotton fields chain gangs and lynchings.

I am Black
I have been made ignorant to the greatness
The Greatness of Queens and Empresses before me who share my DNA
That's the educational system for a Black. Therefore I am MOORE

I am Black no MORE
A conscious mind in this band of time.
I am eternal
