 Eve of Destruction

Tomorrow the Democrats will take control of the government,
The House, the Senate, the Presidency; recoiling from Bush.
The voters will get the change that they seek; but what will it bring?
Mr. Obama moves into the White House with new ideas and ideals;
Sweeping changes could be in store as our inner structure is shaken.
Right, wrong, or indifferent; change creates waves of the unknown.
Seeds sown reap a harvest, interlocking destinies surround us;
Is this the New Vision of peace, or is it the Eve of Destruction?

Obama goes to Washington with our nation's destiny in his hand;
Is he the ‘Chosen One' anointed by his contemporaries?
Our nation is on it's knees due to our own excesses and greed,
Change appears to be the answer to pull us out of the deep well.
Reduction of taxes on the workers, increasing the burden on the rich,
Called socialism by his opponent, radical by some of the others;
Needed by those in which the American Dream has turned into a nightmare;
Is this the New Vision of love, or is it the Eve of Destruction?

We stand at a moment in time unlike none before, the feeling is thick;
Knowing the importance of this election, voters turn out in record numbers.
With hope we look to our horizon of a New World Order of peace;
Yet fear of mankind's destructive nature stands in the way of faith.
The balance is precarious, will everything topple falling around us?
Or will this opportunity be ceased, thrusting mankind into evolution?
Tomorrow will be a day like no other day that we have seen on this earth;
Is this the New Vision of order, or is it the Eve of Destruction?

Eve of election day, 2008
