O Goddess, Your dark form consists
Of the cool blissful fire of sweet nectar
You are skilled in cutting down the egos
Of the embodied souls in the world, and
You are engaged in an amorous battle
With Shiva in the burning ground of Space
But, why are You showing Your tongue?
Why do You wear that garland of skulls?
Is it to exhibit that You are the Creator,
And Your tongue is the manifested Word
Your body is the manifested Universe,
And the skulls, the flowers of galaxies!

O Kali, who shines like a blue lotus
Of Consciousness! You are the Creator
Of the light of knowledge and the remover
Of the darkness of ignorance, O Mother,
You are the Supreme Soul of the universe
You are the Supreme energy that exists
In the form of all things without a name
You are the only One needed to be known;
Hence, I burn down all names and forms
In the sacrificial fire of my consciousness
O Kali, rise up now in the middle of flames
With the luster of thousand rising Suns!
