 once upon a time

MORNING MUSIC

Clack, clacking of train wheels thrumming on steel
Wheezing of the bin lorry as it passes my window
The cooing of a pigeon in the trees ,most delightful of all,
a red robin pecks at the fresh mown lawn.
Two doves so in love share all in the magic of morning’s music.

The blackbird sings its magic notes
Joined by the bassoon sounds of the magpie
Nothing peaceful in my gardens music
Underlying it all is the simple fact of life’s survival.
Paused in alertness then darting along the fence
The squirrel is aware of all thats about.
The cat’s on the prowl slinking low to the ground
But the music swells letting everyone know danger is around.

Morning music in the garden as the sun rises
It dries the dew of the new mown grass.
The lawnmower music long ago reached its crescendo.
The music settles into a symphony of simplicity.
Letting each and every one of us enjoy the brand new day
The only discordant note is of mankind’s mayhem.
