Clearly, oh how clearly I see you sitting there,
Radiant smile as we converse on day's events,
Worldwide happenings, as well as local,
Topics dear to our heart - possibly soul.
Years go by, still I think of you, and all the things we used to do
So why did you leave?
I knew the day would come but still I ached, I felt undone,
But your presence still resides within my soul, within my mind.
Friends can be forever, regardless of age
Sharing unbridled laughter that's cleansing like sage,
Understanding never ending, companions to the end,
Never ceasing to part when one rounds the last bend.
I think of you often, and whenever I do
My thoughts are gentle, and always true-blue,
For that is 'you', though you've passed on with time,
Still you live within memory, and within this felt rhyme.
~ Often times we forget when the present becomes the past, forgetting little things,
often the most important. The person for whom I wrote this impacted my life in ways
I could have never imagined when we first met. I miss her laughter, her wicked
sense of humor, but mostly I miss our friendship, yet I know that she is never far
away, and my continuing thoughts of her, as well as my love, is what inspired this poem.
