When you meet an Angel
Just sitting on a bench
Blowing smoke and trying not to think out loud
When suddenly the world goes silent
'cept for butterflies and clouds
Tears fill up my eyes
Hands shake like autumn leaves
Heart breaks ribs in pounding
Pretend it isn't happening, wipe tears off with my sleeve
You sit down beside me
Friends of yours say Hi
If I don't breathe soon
I will surely die
I have never seen the beauty
When it comes from so deep within
If asked now what you look like
I'd have no idea where to begin
I feel wary that you can see me
Floating in the air
That you can see my thoughts escaping
Saying 'There's an Angel sitting there.'
There are no bells and rockets
Well none that I can hear
Just increasing oneness
It's just too much to bare
At last I see your face
Through mind's mirage of events
I know it's you I've been looking for
Give me words please, some that make some sense
How long has passed in my silence
Do you think me a little mad
Please Lord let the words come
This is the best moment I've ever had
No time has passed at all
And you say 'I haven't seen you here before.'
I just smile the smile of happiness
I move above where eagles soar
This is what happened to me
That day when we first met
I carry this feeling always
Not managed to let go yet
Not sure why you were chosen
To be taken away from me
I guess for a greater reason
Than being allowed to stay down here with me
I think about you always
I stare at pictures 'til I'm blind
I still believe in Angels
Especially the one that's in my mind.
