Softer Takes
Leaving home, reality bites
Swallowing so much more
than it could
chew
A piece of you
its meal
Not just any fare
but of mind
body and
soul
Heartfelt circumstances, painful
Seeking comforts rest
Leaning on
understanding
Hard to believe it caught up with you
and softer takes relieve
for the moment
A kiss warmer, embrace with intent
holds for now, an escape
of sorts from a
colder Hell
Time seems to have stolen more than
its given
Breath but one of
many things
Keeping to things sane just
not the
same
Not of theirs that made things right
Wrong tripped up such
plans
Their taste still lingers
reminding one of
softer takes
of good,
of love
of them
Softer Takes
