Of Black and White
Last call rung out and all about
Were empty chairs as words rang out
To no applause, to no avail
His voice cracking from smokes gone stale
With last key stroked he'd bid adieu
To night turned day as breath he drew
While packing in his keyboard grand
A man some called Piano Man
His living made of one night stands
Many now few work hard to land
His field of dreams grows dry these days
As work becomes now CD played
It use to be they would request
A song that stood that time did test
But not these days, no longer are
The hopes and wish to be a star
His time once came and left this town
Without a word or trace now found
Of real music once played by hands
That shake a bit this older man
Pressing frame of glasses worn
He packs it in again the storm
Of life now knocks upon his ears
The melody of better years
For love he made to keys once new
Both Black and White by hands his soothed
