Meanwhile, all feelings of euphoria we SEEK to KEEP.
Our time with Grand Mother Earth is all about
balancing the good with the BAD.
At birthday parties we tell jokes and LAUGH.
Immediately after the hurricane we cry a river
upon losing everything we HAD.
We must learn from our losses as we celebrate our WINS.
The homeless lady at the soup kitchen need a pair of shoes
while the young drug dealer GRINS
as he purchases a thousand dollar pair of eyeglasses,
the kind with tented LENS.
Enlightened folks have learned to fuse
the bitter and the sweet into a classic BLEND.
Instead of treating one of them as your enemy
and the other as your FRIEND,
learn to appreciate both of them as if they're your next of KIN.
Existing inside this physiological make-up called the FLESH
some of us don't set aside enough time to achieve adequate REST.
Yet, during our most troublesome times,
heroes are energized by adrenaline to perform at their very BEST.
When you're tired, the body wants to SLEEP.
When you're hungry for knowledge the mind needs to EAT.
If you listen and pay close attention to poetry and rhyme
from a humble poet's mind,
you just might comprehend the correlation of the bitter and the SWEET.
