How that first drink may have tasted so refreshing in the throat -
And it seemed somehow the thing to follow through -
But - bit by bit the need takes hold - and the addiction starts to grip -
Until - there's no satisfaction felt with - 'just a few '.
For some - the worst affects - may not yet have taken hold -
Until their legs grow weak - and the room begins to spin -
And their stomachs start to lurch - at the very smell of food -
And all the contents end up - outside - instead of in .
What a sad decline for - whoever they may be -
As they stagger then from one drink to the next -
Not just causing themselves trouble in their misery and demise -
But for those around them - to be equally vexed .
If only there was a solution - and a quick fix remedy -
To take away the cravings - and desires -
In an instant - with no withdrawals - or fear of seering pain -
With no cramps - raging from the burning - inner fires .
I wonder just how many - would reach out - for such a cure -
Or would push through - to be free and let it go -
Or would they rather they stayed bound up -in their squallor and their mess -
Content - living with the bondage - that they know ?
Well - let me tell you now my friends - and those sadly brought so low -
There is glorious hope and freedom - to be had -
In a Person - who will gladly take - all - your sin-sick life -
And set you free- from all it's rottenness and bad .
He's not taken by surprise - by the mess that we are in -
And HE never looks at us - and says that we're just dirt -
And it doesn't matter how deep the pit - or how strong may be our chains
He can heal us - and take out all the hurt .
He is always willing and is ready - to free us from our shame -
And lift us up - 'til we can stand up straight and tall -
And release us from the strongholds - that keep us bent and so weighed down -
And help us walk upright - and lift us when we fall.
Perhaps you are such a person - who needs this help today -
Well - let me say - Please - don't waste any time -
But reach out right now to JESUS - HE will hear your deep heart's cry -
And I promise you - He'll never let you down .
He'll fight for you in your corner - against every evil foe -
that has held you in despair - and in defeat -
And HE'll cleanse you of the guilt and shame - and heal you of your past -
And help you to stand up once again - on your two feet .
Then HE'll put - New HOPE and JOY - deep within your heart -
And you'll feel a Love - you've never known before -
And HE'll teach you of the good HE has - for You - in HIS plans -
'Cos HE's the GOD of the Abundance - and much More.
