The Smartest Breed
A dog may be a stray
and live on the city street.
Those born to be a pet
are kind, loving and sweet.
What is the smartest breed?
I know it has been said.
The collie holds the title
and the winner is purebred.
A mixed breed mingles
and may not get along.
The dumbest dog will be
where he doesn't belong.
Not every dog is wise
as the pets of the earth.
Even the wandering dog
came from the common birth.
Can a dog have knowledge
when they walk the land?
A dog might show his teeth
and growl at an open hand.
The mess a dog may leave
in the house, on the floor.
He appears to be stupid
when pushed out the door.
A dog can be slow to learn
and might not seem that smart.
Even a guilty face can smile
and in pictures it's an art.
We love the personality
of the expressive mutt.
And, humor is not lacking
for the dog that drags his butt.
