 Penniluck's legacy

Against The Odds

To my handsome and kindhearted grandson Tony who is 20 years old today 6/9/12 Have a wonderful birthday son love always Nannie xxx

My grandson Tony Langridge is such a quiet lad
The day that he was born made his mummy oh so glad
You see the doctors told her she would never have a son
But I disagreed with them so listen everyone

She cried a little as she said `Oh mum that isn`t true.`
I can never have a baby and I think that`s cruel of you
I smiled because I had been told a baby would be born
Twenty years ago today on this September morn.

She phoned me two weeks later to tell me she`d conceived
The words that I had told her she now truly believed
Then along my grandson came with bonnie bright blue eyes
A mummy oh so grateful to hear his baby cries

Now this laddie`s fully grown a young man full of truth
A laddie who adores his mum and such a special youth
Clever, kind and caring, loving to his mum
She and I are very proud she has this handsome son.

So my bonnie Tony may all your dreams come true
And everything you ever want may God give unto you
You are very special... were born against all odds
You my laddie Tony... a child of the gods.

I hear that you are trekking along two hundred miles
So as you go remember that Nannie always smiles
When she thinks back on days gone by when mummy shed a tear
And Nannie reassured her that you would soon be here.

Every second precious and every memory too
I`m so glad that I was right and Mum gave birth to you.
Have a happy day my son and don`t forget the joy
Your mum felt on this special date when told she had a boy
