Yesterday’s reflections are all that I can see.
They drift by my mind, when I’m in misery.
If every time I noticed, all the laughter surrounding me.
I’d drown in a sea of words, knowing I can’t be.
Yellows, blues and reds all merge, blocking out the sun.
They also turn out the stars extinguished one by one.
All the things remembered are deep within my mind.
All the days of abuse, a time that was unkind.
If all I had were sorrows, remembered day-by-day.
Each day would be full of pain, til I would fade away.
That was only a little of my seventy years.
There were days of sunshine, many I have cheered.
I have to do something, to earn a place in time.
Maybe it’s just these words that I write in rhyme.
I’m watching the day dissolving, disappearing in the dark.
I’d be satisfied if my writings were that mark.
