Wishing you peace

28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11: 28-30

Lord Jesus, when I wake up, several thoughts go through my mind,  Is it a week day or the weekend?  What time is it?  Do I have a few more hours to sleep or is at about time to wake up or is it past that time?  Am I up to date with my work?  Do I have any tasks today I am not looking forward to?  Do I have any tasks that I am not sure how they will go?  Will I do well today? Will I fail in some things?  Is that voicemail going to have 'good' news or 'bad'.  Will this person over here let me down?  Will that person over there go back on what was agreed?...

Lord, these questions have the effect of setting the sails for my morning, and my day.  I am basing my day on the answers to these questions.  Whether I have a 'good' day or a 'bad' day is being heavily determined by these questions.

This is the day that You made Lord.

I am changeable.  My moods, circumstances and attitudes determine how I answer these questions and contribute towards my perception of the day.

I can struggle and be anxious based on whether I think think I can handle the things set before me.

Lord, instead, I am to take these thoughts captive.

I am to focus on what is excellent, admirable and praiseworthy.  I am to focus on You.

You are not changeable.  Yesterday, today and forever, You stay the same.

Lord when these thoughts come in, I can reply that You are in control.  You are in control of my heartbeat.  You are in control over every living thing.  You have control over my sleep and when I wake up.  You have control over my tasks.  You have control over my application towards those tasks.  You have dominion over other people.  You are in control of whether I 'fail' or 'succeed'.  You can see things that will happen today that I will only know of when they happen.  You are in control of those who let me down.  You are in control of the sun coming up.  You are in control of the gravitational pull that millions of planets that have affecting the orbit of all the other millions of planets including our own.
You know far more about my up and coming day than I do.

Therefore, whatever the question, whatever the issue, whatever the variable, I put my trust in You.  You do not vary.

Lord, my peace and happiness is not found in my ability to deal with the happenings of the day.  My peace and happiness is found in You.  Amen.
