Welcome to My Poetry Site

I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself.  My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.  Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
1 Corinthians 4:3-5

We live in a ‘How To’ world.  There’s a ‘how to’ for most situations we might find ourselves in.  How to get rich, How to have peace, How to get the woman / man of our dreams..

But does the world of How To really benefit us?

The only ‘How to’ that benefit’s us is: ‘How to throw your life down for Christ’.  That’s it.

‘Yes, but if I don’t cling on to all the other How To’s then I might get something wrong?’

That’s why Christ did what He did at great cost.  Because of the things we get wrong.  He has covered it.  We are to stop trying to cling to How To’s and cling to Him.  It is dangerous to cling to anything else and it is dangerous when we try to change ourselves and try to change others for the ‘better’.  We really do it for our own benefit.

We worship ourselves when we do so.  We try to attain something that is impossible to attain.  We try to attain something which has already been attained for us through Christ.  Christ is perfect.  Paul says ‘It is the Lord who judges me’.

What will be the verdict of that judgement if we cling to Christ?  It’s a no brainer really isn’t it?  That’s why Paul can say ‘I care very little if I am judged by you... indeed, I do not even judge myself’.

When we put our hope in Christ, it is over for the things that come against us and the errors we make.  They have no lasting power over us.  The fact that we are imperfect has nothing to do with anything.  It is irrelevant when we are in Christ.

When we put a little bit of hope in ourselves... it may be all over for us..

Forget ‘How to’.  Forget praising yourself when you do something right and putting yourself down when you don’t.  Forget it.  Forget contemplative navel gazing.  Forget clinging to right and wrong – the law.

Christ has satisfied the law on our behalf.  Cling to the One who has victory over all things.  Then we will not have to care about anything apart from the only How To that really counts.
