A McDonald's Moment
She ran as if the last of them
Would be sold out and what if then
There were no more of happy meals
How would grandpa now make amends?
The line too long to their cashier
His heart racing with doubt and fear
For this day was all he'd have
To share with her of all he has
You see she too would now move on
To a new home with dad and mom
A trek too far for him to make
Too old to leave where he now wakes
The nursing home he now calls home
Arrangements made now he alone
Will live what's left of life now aged
Until time calls his last to page
But now the moment is all hers
His last, this day of heart she stirs
For loved is she of fine brown hair
As lunch date is all theirs to share
Question she will what he will get
As wait they do to not forget
No pickles on her fine fare
But ketchup lots all fries can bare
Chocolate milk her drink of choice
Where at table a toast they'll hoist
To ventures her where he won't be
Alongside her and family
But as absence of her grows fonder
Upon his heart today their wonders
Fill a void in him that keeps
His love of loves in dreams asleep
