Second Chance
Followed the light
Walked the stairway
At the Gates I told my story
But no entry comes my way
I sit on clouds just waiting
Why do I not receive a key
What have I done
Why the hesitating
Wings of Angels blacken
Harp strings snap
Insane harmonies
Halos crack
The Creator summoned
Fingers he runs across the page
He looks at me
And sees within my cage
Lightning bolts shatter mind
Lesser gods are summoned
I hear Hades smile
And can sense the hounds are coming
Finger beckons me forward
A question I am asked
Why should I let you in
And in light let you bask
I tell Him I am scared of hell
I do not want the fire
He looks at me and shakes his head
And of me he does tire
But you have not yet lived
You let fear be your guide
There were dreams for you to follow
But you chose to hide
Hades arrives and whispers
A new decision has been made
The Gates open for me
And by Creator I am bade
Renounce your fear He tells me
And from it you must turn
Give your fear to Hades
For it is he who took your dreams to burn
He saw the day your spirit died
He tore life from your soul
He admits that he was wrong
And should not have taken the angels from your side
A second chance to offer you
Is what he requests from me
So before you lay your dreams
Go live them and be whole
Then next time you reach the Gates
You will have earned your key
