Murmurers and complainers
Have always been around
The dissatisfied with life…
Ones who are always down.
We complain about the rain…
Staring holes into the sky.
We shake our fists at God…
Then when the sun beats down we cry.
We complain about our country…
We grunt, we groan, we tear
Yet if we were moved to other lands
We’d be longing to live here.
There is a lesson to be learned
On the pages of God’s Book,
If we’ll study ancient Israel
And the attitude they took.
The exodus from Egypt
Brought everything but thanks.
Rather than a grateful group
Moses coped with their complaints.
So for forty years God kept them
Away from the Promised Land.
They rounded that same mountain
Until made to understand.
People of America, are we
Pursuing that same path?
It seems we’re always throwing out
The baby with the bath.
If we are given food to eat…
A roof over our head…
We’re better off than half the world
Who have never seen a bed.
The scraps we scrape to garbage cans
Here in the USA
Would be a feast to some poor soul
Yet we complain away.
We complain about the price of food,
Of gasoline and such
And maybe we’ve got reason
But must we murmur so darned much?
God wants us to be thankful
For all He does provide.
Thank Him for the simple things
And let negatives just slide.
Be thankful for hot water
Or just a simple bar of soap.
Life is what you make it
But you can’t make it without hope.
We must put our faith in Jesus
Yet we must do our part.
Let us usher in Thanksgiving Day
With a truly thankful heart.

~~Author’s Note~~
I was awakened at 4am to post this poem!
And I’d already posted a Thanksgiving poem!
But this one contains a different kind of
message. All I can say is please don’t shoot
the messenger!...but I must be obedient. I had to
repent for all my complaining, too. This
is directed to certain people, I suppose, or maybe
to the nation…I don’t know. But I would ask that
we all be truly thankful for what we have and we
need to pray for our nation as never before!! And
please do observe the scriptures He led me to.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known to God
1 Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances; for this
is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
Matthew 6:25-34
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious
about your life, what you will eat or
what you will drink, nor about your body,
what you will put on. Is not life more
than food, and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow
nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet
your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you
not of more value than they? And which
of you by being anxious can add a single
hour to his span of life? And why are you
anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies
of the field, how they grow: they neither toil
nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all
his glory was not arrayed like one of these
