It was four years ago
around this time
that I walked into a yahoo chat room
that would change my life.
I never knew that two complete strangers
could someday become great friends.
I met many people there that night
but she stood out in such a way,
she just had met me, a stranger
and introduced me to her online friends.
As we got to know each other
she invited me to join her online family the XLT's,
she took me in, no questions asked.
I later learned her name was Louella
but she preferred I call her "shy."
She was there for me when I needed a friend
she always tried to give me good advice.
I may not have known her in person,
but I knew her heart
and her kind soul.
Though we were miles apart
It felt like I'd met her years ago.
And now that she's gone
all the people's lives she's touched
will miss her truly.
The wonderful caring person she was,
I will never forget that day I met Louella,
when two online strangers became great friends.
