Poetic-Verses

Heart of stone.

No one dared to ask her name
even enquire from where she came,
said her heart was made of stone
and all because she lived alone.

Behind the curtains hanging there
she would stand and sometimes stare,
none would venture in fear her wrath
and none dared to walk her path.

In the silent lowly hours of night
when clouds of darkness covered light,
she would gaze up to the stars above
as if searching for a long lost love.

Every night she would do the same
into the wind she would call a name,
awaiting a reply from the moonlit sky
with hope in heart and tear in eye.

In her hand held a telegram old
"Missing in action" was all it told,
far away on some foreign ground
he had died but no body found.

Every night she called out in vain
come to me darling just once again,
outstretched arms clasping at air
reaching for someone never there.

One night they found her lying dead
a smile on her face so they said,
did she die all alone that day?
or did he return to take her away?.
