New Year's Eve celebrations around the world...
The celebrations kicked off in New Zealand and Australia,
followed by an enthusiastic welcome to 2013 across Asia,
then Europe and America, with extravagant firework displays
lighting up the skies in Hong Kong, Russia and New York.

New Zealand's main city of Auckland became one of the first
to see in the New Year with onlookers gathering at the harbour
to enjoy the fireworks display.
In Australia, singer, Kylie Minogue, who was designated creative ambassador
for the fireworks, pressed the button to start the event,
as a pair of giant red lips atop the Sydney Harbour bridge counted down
the seconds to midnight.
The city exploded in colour as fireworks were launched from seven skyscrapers,
with seven tons of pyrotechnics fired from seven barges on the harbor.
There was also 60 tons of lighting and pyrotechnics on the
Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The theme of the celebration was "embrace".
The eight-minute pyrotechnic show was launched from both land and sea,
in Hong Kong, surrounding the Convention and Exhibition Centre where Britain
handed over the city's sovereignty to China in 1997.
