Life is perplexing, difficult,
Each day stepping twixt life’s issues,
The callousness of officials,
Rampant disregard of others,
Hornet madness erupts violently
When elderly robbed or abused.
I scream ‘Strangle the mongrels!’
What right do they have to live?
Pack them off to the old sheriff,
Sherriff Joe’s tent city jail,
Chain gang work for life’s survival,
Make’m pay for their crime!
I take another angry step,
But fall at the Spirit’s prompting,
‘Can your anger bring true justice?
Leave vengeance to God Almighty.
Christ forgave a violent thief
Long before he forgave you!
Does anger and indignation
Make you any better than they?
Or deserve a favour from God?
Ask God to bring about change,
Ask God to deliver their souls,
Ask God to forgive your anger.
How can I tread life’s tricky paths?
Can I step around evil issues?
Can I step though life’s mire?
Can I step on those who trouble?
But the steps of the righteous
Are to be guided by The Lord,
His Holy ways differ from ours.
His great love is universal,
Yes, the unlovable are loved,
Forgiveness is offered to all.
Oh Lord, change the inner me first,
Teach me to pray as you would do.
