If you have money to buy
a loaf of bread,
buy half a loaf,
spend the rest on flowers.
Bread for the body,
flowers for the soul!
But this is
what poetry is about,
Wordsworth, wandering
"lonely as a cloud",
Shelly's "Blithe spirit,
Bird thou never wert",
Keats, "Heard melodies are sweet,
but those unheard are sweeter".
To see the beauty of the sunrise,
the glory of the sunset!
To see character in old faces
and courage in the young and strong.
To see a lovely woman
beautiful in the fullness of youth
as the fairest flower
and an old man,
full of years and wisdom!
These too,
are flowers for the soul!
