The sun shines brightly
in the clear blue sky
over the winding, twisting Rhine river.
Along the banks,
amidst steaming, swirling mists,
Lorena of the Lorelei,
a mysterious siren,
lithe, lissome and lovely,
combing out her glorious tresses,
a long, golden, clinging mantle
cascading over her shoulders,
covering her scantily clad body.
Her beautiful voice
with its dulcet, bell like tone
sweeping out over the water
in long reaching, pulsating,
high crescendos of peaks of song,
filled with suggestive,
seductive promises
of blissful ecstasies!
Sad, tragic figure,
wrongly accused,
betrayed by her sweetheart,
unwittingly distracting seamen
with her beauty and song,
tragic in her life
and tragic in her
unintended effect!
