Visions

July 4th Prayer

"If I shall be able to rise superior to these, and many other difficulties which might be enumerated, I shall most religiously believe that the finger of Providence is in it, . . ." George Washington in the midst of The War of Independence.

God of our Fathers,
Creator of Heaven and Earth,
we thank Thee
for Thy great Providence
which gave us
this Republic,
conceived in Liberty,
not license,
founded on Thy Word
unfailing, eternal and ever True!
The grass of human wisdom
withers and dies.
The flowers of Man's idealism
pass away like Summer.
The poison weeds of Atheism
dissolve in their own
murderous stench!
Thy Word stands forever,
fragrant as a thousand blossoms,
fruitful as a full laden orchard,
a Light beyond light,
giving Life beyond life!
Bless Thy great name,
forever and ever!
