Visions

The Divine Word

Mystery beyond our ken.
Lo! Amid the endless night,
giving hope to fallen Man
The Logos shining bright!

Satan's hosts and wiles despite,
by evil not constrained.
And though the heathens rage,
by darkness not contained.

Oh, Word of life to sinners!
Thou, who came to set us free,
through death bringing atonement
and through sorrow, liberty!

The natural light of reason
enlightening every man
and supernatural Grace
perfecting Heaven's plan.

Oh, Holy Word Eternal!
Drive all darkness from my soul.
Write Thyself upon my heart.
Make my sinful spirit whole!

Glory to God, the Father,
Reverence to Christ, the Son,
Adoration to the Spirit,
The gracious Three in One!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.John 1:1-5.
