 once upon a time

Just though I would tell you about a lady
I met the other day. Born four years before
the advent of the first world war. There she
was sitting contently waiting for a bus.

It got me to thinking all about the life we
take for granted. This charming lady had
grown up in most tumultuous of centuries,
taught schoolchildren all her life.

Now she sits serene and says I remember you
I taught you and all your brothers, can’t lift my
head to see your face, but I remember the voice.
Sitting serenely waiting for a bus at age 103
