SEA MIST

I’m standing gazing towards where
Scotland should be, but the sea mist along
the Antrim coast obscures my view. The coast
line of Antrim is the most beautiful in Ireland
Lot of beautiful places in this fantastic world, but
this one the Antrim coast holds a lot of mysteries.

Have walked and driven this coastline many a year.
In fact, in retrospect, man and boy over fifty years,
it seems as if I only set out yesterday, where did they go.
All those years and on the coast nothings changed.
Okay I have, but put that down to old age. This coast
with it’s nine glens remains the same, it’s limestone cliffs
bolstered by concrete bollards, keeping them from sliding into the sea.

Antrim and its coastline is as beautiful as can be. Drive it,
walk it, the mysteries are there, albeit hidden in rock or sea.
After fifty years of walking and driving that very coastline
with Scotland usually obscured by mist, a mere 15 mile across
the sea, I still have not encountered all of it’s mysteries, but
the beauty is in the searching and the peering, at the sea mist.
