Silence

Ah! Silence!
What a beautiful thing.
Amidst the cacophony
of the modern world,
with its car radios
whose speakers
penetrate
through solid brick,
with screaming children
in restaurants,
with the endless
babble of senseless songs,
and TVs running
eight hours a day.
"Satan's Kingdom
of Noise"
as C. S. Lewis said.
Peace,
calm,
reflection
amid
blessed silence.
