God is so rich in compassion…
He’s so merciful and just.
Long-suffering, kind, and patient…
Wanting what is best for us.
If He were only holiness…
If judgment ruled His heart…
His children wouldn’t stand a chance…
O, but mercy plays a part.
Closely related to God’s Grace,
Mercy’s cloaked in mystery.
Its unmerited forgiveness
Seems to baffle you and me.
We don’t get what we deserve!
O, who can understand?
But God in all His graciousness
Is simply holding back His hand.
Those of us whom He's redeemed…
Whom winds just toss about…
Must learn to live in total trust…
That He will work things out.
When life seems at its darkest…
When we’re straining hard to see.
Then mercy will reflect a Light
From God to you and me.
If we draw warmth from mercy
We won't shiver needlessly.
Joy WILL come in the morning!!!
This is mercy's mystery...
This is our God's guarantee!
