 Jones Has Gone To Jesus

couldn’t write this yesterday…
Couldn’t write the day before.
My thoughts were much too scrambled…
My concentration much too poor.

Yet something deep within my soul
Sought my poetic dues.
The headlines screamed that Jones was dead!
His death made all the news.

A Country Music legend died!
A sweet singer had passed on.
His friends and family were crushed...
His fans cried at each song..

We older fans with frosty hair
Seemed frozen by the fact.
We were children of the classics
And George was a classic act.

We'd prayed through his addictions...
We'd watched his hopes unfurl.
There was no question of his faith...
He 'd shared it with the world.

The love and faithfulness of God
Stays with us to the end.
So now Jones has gone to Jesus
Rest in peace, our Country friend.

~~Dedicated to Scott~~
(the greatest George Jones fan I know)

~~AUTHOR"S NOTE~~
My condolences to Nancy Jones and all the Jones family.

Psalm 73:23-26
ESV

"Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will
receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there
is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart
may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

John 14:1--4 ESV
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you
that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am
you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
