I’m Fine
Tired of having to smile
Fulfilling need to please
Disguising loneliness
Mind is on its knees
Silently reaching out
For a hand to hold
One that won’t let go
When your story’s told
Fear you won’t be understood
For holding on to what is lost
Giving body with empty heart
Knowing guilt’s the cost
Allowing hidden truth to devour us
Allowing it to drown the soul
Depriving mind of the courage
To believe the good we’re told
