Thanks to one of the poets here on this site I can get out the sorrow as I watch my partner slip slowly oh so slowly through time to eternity on waves of pain.
I watch him lying half asleep
Afraid to close his eyes
On the alert in case death comes
And all alone he dies
I will not let it happen
For I am by his side
And I shall swim along with him
Upon this silent tide
Up to the gates of heaven
And only then let go
When he shall walk into the light
And everything he`ll know
That there`s no need to be afraid
As angel voices sing
He will send his love to me
Upon a golden wing
My tears shall make a rainbow
As he goes drifting by
I must be strong it won`t be long
When we must say goodbye.
