A Lost Soldier![]() The howling wind moaned in his ear A freezing rain washed his dirty hair Pins of snow hammered in his skin as sharp as nails He longed to be at his computer reading emails His broken heart missed happy days with his bride He searched around for somewhere he could hide Exhaustion forced him to take a rest for a while The area where he stopped looked very hostile All his dreams vanished, his silent prayers denied Trembling, he faced his future, he knew not why A lonely soldier softly wept for his life ebbing by He was completely alone so no one saw him cry He could not go on, his body shuddered where he lay Hot were the tears on his face, he then began to pray His weak mind went blank, like a white page without lines He caressed a bunch of old letters wrapped in twine "I surrender to my Captain, whom I love in the sky" These were the last words he whispered.......... A single plane flew by He went to meet Jesus, with a soldier's courage he died copyrightŠ2006Irene *:ˇ..ˇ:* *:ˇ..ˇ:* *:ˇ..ˇ:* Note: In remembrance of my dear Dad, who is my hero.
