The Medium
This came into the house as quiet as a mouse
The joy of having one any suspicion was not arouse
There was that feeling of being so happy that none take time out to envision
That in time it will take their lives and time into another direction
Its novelty soon made it become the center of attraction
And so that once close family life was in serious situation
As they soon now began to engage in much fewer conversations
Since this new acquisition soon become the main focus of attention
It made such an impact on the minds and lives of the children
Who at this tender age it would have a far greater impression
As they took it in as though it was the doctor prescribed medicine
And too was the method employed by families for baby sitting
But that added accessory like satellite and also too cable
Through them one could access all types of programs conceivable
There were no shortage of violence and those graphic sex scenes
Even showing at those times when they by toddlers could be seen
Now in this age of technology many can be accessed quite readily
Because those devices like computers and cell-phones now have the capacity
So even if parents try to place a ban or instill some form of discipline
They may then go and access and what the program at a friend
Yes there are some benefits to be derived from such a medium
There are better moments and one can use it to get information
Access to sports and be able to see as it happen a news item
And it also gives people a look at other places as a form of comparison
But as we are living in a world of commerce and of trade and business
Have brought to the system a quite different and new perspective
As there is that quest to upstage the competitor to get those ratings
So they will in the process broadcast what is deemed fit got showing
Alas this too is creating in many countries a type of pressure
As many of those depicted lifestyles is wreaking havoc on the local culture
So those in authority should definitely monitor and place close attention
To the types of program that deem safe for viewing on the television
