we gaze outside and watch the winter scene
the white snow that had fallen yesterday
as ice pellets form where once it was green
fluffy white mounds where children like to play
now lies transformed with this swift icy blast
I hear rumbling of people around
natures anger thunderous is forecast
as trees start to hit falling to the ground
run and scream find safety from falling poles
no birds or squirrels collecting nuts are seen
leaving streets and the houses dark and cold
the deserted streets are so cold and mean
in the local shelters people just wait
to ride out the storm and to know their fate
