A dry and barren land
where hot sands the dry winds fan

Eons of time cleaned the soil
leaving the sand so hot it wanted to boil

Scorched by the burning sun
sands thirsty for water got little or none

Empty waterholes
fakes a mirage for hopeful souls

In the distance over the purple  hills
twilight over the land began to steal

Lavender pink and orange ribbons of clouds
hang over the desert replacing the colorless shrouds

Rain in falling sheets covers the land
water into the dry waterholes ran

The desert is now in bloom
Yellow and red cactus  in full hues replace the colorless gloom

Spring time in the desert putting on a beautiful display
causes the wild donkeys to kick up their heels and happily bray

I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
