Visions

Jerusalem the Golden

Jerusalem the Golden,
that city seen of old
coming down from Heaven
for those whose names are written
in the Heaven kept Book of Life.
Twelve gates to the city
beside gleaming, glassy waters
of a splendid, tideless sea,
no need of Moon to shine by night
or Sun to shine by day,
a sky blue, crystal river
flows from the throne of God.
The light of God illumines all,
the shining streets of Gold,
the brilliant colorful gems
encrusting gates and buildings,
and the mansions of the blest!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
City of God's peace.
City of the Eternal abode
of all those saved by Faith.
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
City of endless praise,
Mighty singing angel choirs,
Seraphim and Cherubim,
and the Grand Opera voices
of all who are redeemed
where Time shall be no more!
