War Wounds

They say that around twenty two Vets commit suicide each day,
that's about one a hour that their pain takes them away.

If you get wounded in combat they give you a decoration called a Purple Heart.
But there isn't any decoration for when War or Combat tears your mind apart.
Lost limbs, scars and other injuries are easy to notice and see.
Yet you can't see the scars or internal turmoil caused from PTSD.
Combatants and non combatants often fall prey to this.
With night sweats and terrible dreams on the top of their list.
Personally I like many others suffer from PTSD,
and each and every day and night my mind recalls what I did see.
I suppose by now your wanting to know why I'm writing this poem.
Seriously it's just a note to let you know that you're not alone.
If you have any turmoil from an event in your past from the military.
Don't be afraid to go to the V.A. they've worked wonders for me.
I'm not afraid to admit that I'm heavily medicated for my condition.
But if I wouldn't of sought help my life would of ended up in a much worse condition.
Stanley Victor Paskavich.
