The Newport Car Crash

When I was in my forties, I had an occasion to get behind the wheel of the family car.
It was while we lived in Newport, NC.
I was told by my dad to put some gas to the engine.
I pumped the accelerator and crashed in the neighbor's fence.
Twas a time that I will remember for it made me sad to hear what Dad had to say.
He said he knew something like this would have happened.
It cost $2,500.00 for the accident to be handled by the insurance company.
Needless to say I didn't drive the car after this incident.
It caused me to ward off of driving and never been under the wheel of another car.
This is not funny though it may be to some.
It was a disheartening time for me since I had used the car like I did.
I will be remembering this for a long time to come.
