Visions

The Death of God?

God, who is Great, indeed,

and the great Architect of the Universe,

disappeared from the scene.

Atheists were dancing in the streets

rejoicing,

proclaiming the death of God.

John True

was very distressed!

Then things began to happen

or not happen!

Automobiles ceased to function,

the sun began to burn out,

great storms wracked the Earth,

enormous tidal waves

swept the coasts.

John True

sat on his lawn

one starry June night

watching the stars

winking out, one by one.

When he viewed a blood red sun,

he knew the end was near!

The American Atheist Science Council

met to consider what was to be done.

A loud voice interrupted their meeting:

"By the way, people,

I am not dead,

I just decided to leave this Universe.

You won't believe it

but I was its keystone.

But since you don't need me,

run it yourself, while you may!"

There followed a giant peal of ringing laughter!

John True awoke

from his fevered sleep.

"Thank you, Jesus,

that this was just a nightmare!
