When I was a child
I would play marbles and ride my bike
Even went fishing with my dad
I ran like the wind up hills and down hills
I fell often cutting my knees, my elbows
And once splitting my lip
AND I CRIED!
I remember lying beside my best friend
Up at the top of the hill
Covered in tall grass of amber
There were no others in the whole wide world
Buddies forever
He'd never let anyone or anything hurt me
Then one cloudy day,
God took Rocky in his sleep
AND I CRIED!
As in all things in life
Onward I marched with time at my side
I have grown in body and mind
I remember,
Wishing upon a star
Gathered fireflies and moonbeams in a jar
I've followed my allusive dreams
With Rocky always at my side
AND I CRIED!
Years later,
I returned to the hilltop of my childhood
I laid down among-st the tall grass of amber
I felt the warmth of all my days past
Turning my head to the side
There Rocky was,
Right by my side like always
I found serenity once again
AND I CRIED!
