The Memories I Keep

MY BELOVED TIGERS

This was to be the magical season
my beloved Tigers go all the way
They built a team of solid players
and they came ready to play

They won the Central as expected
but bigger goals laid ahead
I did my part each night I prayed
to the baseball Gods before bed

But as in life I have learned
games don't always go your way
and you don't always get what you want
no matter how hard you pray

And just like that it was over
the magic season came to an end
to some bearded bean munchers
whom I'll never call a friend

And somewhere in the Motor City
an automobile is being built
And somewhere in the crisp cool night
Autumns splendor begins to wilt

As for me my life too goes on
and I refuse to shed one tear
Because I know in my heart of hearts
my beloved Tigers will get em next year!

I wrote this a little while back after Boston knocked out the Tigers in this years playoffs (2013)
