Poetic-Verses

'' He Wished His Life Away ''

I wish that I were ten years old,
I'd almost be a young man,
For my future I need to be bold,
To reach it I'll do all I can.

I wish that I could drive a car,
As I detest this growing routine,
My aim is to be a racing star,
How I'd love to be seventeen.

I wish my children would fly the nest,
That would give me a chance to live,
They don't believe that I know best,
That I just cannot forgive.

How I wish it were payday again,
Three more weeks to go,
From spending so much I need to refrain,
I must try to take life more slow.

I wish the bus would go much faster,
Arriving yesterday would suit me fine,
Of looking ahead I am the master,
The future to me is divine.

I wish it were my birthday now,
Instead of waiting another year,
If I had the power I'd make it my vow,
To a faster future I'd steer.

Now as I near retirement age,
My life I am going to enjoy,
But suddenly the thought has me in a rage,
Why now does it start to annoy.

Looking back on my life it's went by too fast,
Problem is I can't go back,
Those days of wishing are now in the past,
My future is under attack.

Then someone asked how is young John,
No longer with us was the reply,
He always wanted today to be gone,
His existence just flew on by.

Try living your life one day at a time,
Before you know it, it's gone,
Far too soon you'll be in your prime,
It's so easy to become overdrawn.

As my family and friends in tears do drown,
One of them is heard to say,
The reason he's dressed in that funeral gown,
Is,

‘' He Wished His Life Away ‘'
