Love became too much to give
A state where two once use to live
A home, a place of refuge sought
A violent place where wars were fought
Here beat downs were common ground
Much known to her, unsafe, unsound
Became sound board of body hers
Rocked and knocked, peace hers disturbed
No reasons to stay the course
Put off once more, delay divorce
Maybe today things will improve
If not too late to make her move
Fear keeps still her body worn
A battered state and mind still torn
Abandon ship or sink within
A world of hurt, her loss to win
Breath she draws to just survive
Another chance, another try
This life she lives, quiet of lies
The Simple Truth
